Grey Bathroom Ideas

Having a grey color scheme for a bathroom is a great choice as it gives the room a modern and timeless design style. The thing is, it doesn’t take much to create a grey color scheme. If you were just to keep the room muted in all other colors, and use grey for one or two feature pieces, you’ll be able to create an elegant style.

Some feature pieces in the bathroom include the bathtub, the shower, the walls, and floors. These are the largest pieces/areas of the room and can be turned into focal points. One idea would be to have all of the walls white but have one wall grey – this one wall will stand out as a focal piece (you could always have all the walls grey).

From the pictures in the mood board, the overall color schemes of the bathrooms are mostly white and grey. This would be the go to choice – a grey and white bathroom. Other overall color palettes that work well with grey are yellow, black, purple, and blue.

To really keep that elegant grey design style, you want to avoid having too many colored accessories and furniture pieces in the room. Any colored pieces, like the blue curtains in picture (4), really stand out because the rest of the room is in muted colors (grey and white) and no other colorful pieces are there. But if you were to have a number of different colored pieces in the room, you take away from the grey color scheme. Some easy ways of adding color to the bathroom while keeping that elegant style is to introduce plants to the space.

Marble is a great material to use for grey bathroom designs – the kind where you have a lot of white but streaks of grey. This can be used for vanity countertops, backsplashes, or wall tiles.

One last thing when it comes to grey bathroom ideas is that the shade of grey you use in the bathroom will determine the style and feel of the space. In the pictures above, the bathrooms that use more white and light grey materials feel more spacious and airy. Design Styles: The pictures above have been group together into the two styles of a vintage kitchen. You have the more colorful ones that use pastel colors and have porcelain enamel fixtures, and weathered painted furniture. Then there are the vintage kitchens that are more rustic in design – using more raw wooden furniture, less colors – more like a French country styled kitchen.

Vintage Storage Ideas

Furniture and Fixtures: For a vintage inspired kitchen, barn style light fixtures work best. You have the shallow bowl/pancake lights that look great, with their porcelain enamel as seen in picture (1). Or there are the gooseneck lights. A chandelier is also another great lighting fixture to have in a vintage kitchen design.

When it comes to the sink, a large rectangle porcelain one with rounded edges is the go to choice. These are usually left fully exposed, but in picture (5) the countertop covers it. Subway style tiles make for a great vintage style backsplash (6).

Decor and Accessories Ideas: Using vintage style containers and having them out on display makes for great decor. Home Style Shopping Guide: Vintage Bedroom Edition

Since the Vintage Bedroom Decor Accessories and Ideas post become quite popular, I thought it’d be helpful to put together a post of places where you can buy the items that make up a vintage styled bedroom. So here it is, the shopping list:

(4) Amazon is the best place I’ve found for vintage wall clocks. The one pictured can be found here. But they have a whole range of vintage style clocks from wall clocks, side table ones and alarm clocks which can be found here.

(5) The Georgina bedding set from Anthropologie fits perfectly into a vintage styled bedroom

(6) Laura Ashley has a nice collection of vintage styled lamps. The Webber Table lamp pictured above can be found on Lighting Universe.

(7) Traditional clothing pegs can be used to hang up photos and can be found here.

(8) The framed vintage key from Restoration Hardware is a bit expensive but it does look great. Etsy has a lot of antique keys, but none of them framed well – a DIY project maybe?

(9) The horse and lady art print can be printed to different sizes and can come as just the poster or in a frame – from Zazzle.

(10) Other vintage bedroom accessories include vintage maps and bird prints. The one pictured above is a 1777 American colonies map and can be bought here. (1) A great way of decorating and even adding some color to your deck is to use an outdoor area rug or mat. Special outdoor rugs can be found in places like Lowes. (2) Privacy screens not only give you some privacy, but add a decorative element to a deck. (3) Swings are a great and relaxing addition if you have the space for one.

(4) Deck ponds can be small like the one pictured or can be large and custom built into the deck. (5) A cut out in the deck to allow for a tree provides natural shade during the day (and can be wrapped in string lights). (6) Adding flowers and plants can be done through planter boxes. Add a number of them and have your own garden on your deck. There is the choice of pots, wooden boxes, or having some custom built or DIY built to fit the shape of your deck. You can even find planters that hang from the rails to save you floor space. Or if you have any overhead cover – hanging pots will do the trick (Ideas for Covering Your Deck).
